How Successful are the Arranged Marriages in India?

In western countries like USA, arranged marriage is a rare event. Most Americans date before marriage. They get to know each other, live together for sometime and then get married. However, in India even today arranged marriages are more popular than love marriages. 

What exactly is arranged marriage anyway? It's a kind of marital union where the bridegroom and bride are selected by third parties like parents, relatives, friends, marriage agencies etc.

It is estimated that about 75% of people in India go for arranged marriages. The success rate of arranged marriages is said to be about 90%.

What about the success rate in love marriages? Mumbai High Court has clearly said that the divorce rate is higher in love marriages.

I'm not saying love marriage is not the right choice. In India, most love marriages are not supported by the parents. Both the boy and the girl expect too much from each other as they marry against the wishes of families. When some misunderstanding creeps in after the honeymoon is over, they can't adjust with each other and opt for divorce eventually.
